New professors at the Faculty of Fine Applied And Performing Arts

Borgdorff Henk
HENK BORGDORFF
Henk Borgdorff is a Professor of Research in the Arts at the University of the Arts, The Hague, in the Netherlands. Besides being an editor of the Journal for Artistic Research, he co-founded the Society for Artistic Research and serves as project leader for The Artistic Research Catalogue, an international project aimed to create a web-based repository for artistic research. He is Chair of the SHARE network’s working group on validation and a member of the advisory panel for the Swedisch national graduate school in artistic research ('Konstnärliga forskarskolan'). He is also a member of the strategic working group on research of The Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences and the founder of the Dutch Journal of Music Theory, and has served as secretary at the Dutch Association of Aesthetics. He studied music theory at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, sociology and philosophy at Leiden University and has taught Music Theory and Aesthetics at several conservatories. On 1 September 2010 he was appointed Visiting Professor of Aesthetics with a focus on Art Practice at the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts.

Landgren Per-Olov
PER-OLOV LANDGREN
Born: 1944
Per-Olov Landgren was born in Stockholm. In 1967 he graduated with a degree in Metal and Industrial Design from Konstfack, University College of Arts Crafts and Design. In 1968 he was employed as an industrial designer at AB Gustavsberg, Division Plast, and in 1976 he became design manager at the same company. In 1988 he started the company Landgren Design, which he ran for 10 years before he was employed as Lecturer and later Senior Lecturer at HDK – School of Design and Crafts. On 17 May 2010 he was appointed Professor of Industrial Design at HDK.

Silkeberg Marie
MARIE SILKEBERG
Born: 1961
Marie Silkeberg was born in Denmark. She has previously held a position at Nordens Folkhögskola Biskops-Arnö (the Nordic Folk High School on Biskops-Arnö) and started working as a supervisor and teacher at Literary Composition, Poetry and Prose in 2002. She writes poetry and essays and is also an active translator of mainly lyric poetry and drama, including works by Marguerite Duras, Susan Howe and Inger Christensen. In addition, she has worked with text/sound compositions, and film. Ödeläggelse from 2009 has been shown at poetry festivals in Berlin, Chennai, Cordoba. Her latest collection of poems was published in 2010 and is titled Material. On 1 March 2010 she was appointed Professor of Literary Composition, Poetry and Prose at the Department of Literary Composition, Poetry and Prose.

Snæbjörnsdóttir Bryndís Hildur
BRYNDÍS HILDUR SNÆBJÖRNSDÓTTIR
Born: 1955
Title of doctoral thesis: Spaces of Encounter: Art and Revision in Human Animal Relations
Bryndís Snæbjörnsdóttir was born in Reykjavik and obtained her doctorate in 2009 from the University of Gothenburg. She received her BEd from the University of Iceland in 1986 and her MFA from Glasgow School of Art in 1994. She has been involved in art education as a visiting lecturer around the world and held a more permanent post as a researcher and lecturer at Glasgow School of Art from 1995 - 2002. Her art practice is research based and explores through installation and mixed media the relationship between humans and animals in historical, cultural and environmental contexts. She works in collaboration with the artist Mark Wilson, and their works have been exhibited widely both internationally and nationally. She has also authored many conference articles and lectured on her art and relation to animals. In 2010 she was appointed Professor of Fine Arts at the Valand School of Fine Arts.

Zacharias Christian
CHRISTIAN ZACHARIAS
Born: 1950
Christian Zacharias was born in Jamshedpur in India. He studied piano at Karlsruher Musikhochschule and then went on to study in Paris. He has won the Ravel competition and placed second in the Geneva competition and in the Van Cliburn competition in USA.
After debuting as a conductor in 1992 he has pursued two parallel careers – as a pianist and as a conductor. Since the 2000/2001 season he is the artistic director and chief conductor of the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra. In 2002 he was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. He frequently serves as guest conductor of many leading European orchestras and is since 2008 an artistic director of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra in USA. He has also recorded complete piano sonatas by Schubert and piano concertos by Mozart. Since 1985 he has frequently presented and discussed music on the radio, especially on Radio France. He has been part of three films: about Scarlatti, about Schumann and the film Zwischen Bühne und Künstlerzimmer. At the Midem Classical Awards 2007 he was awarded artist of the year. He is currently Adjunct Professor of Orchestra Playing at the Academy of Music and Drama.
